Designers of destination distinction: BDM opens its 7th luxury airport lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport with more to come this year
BDM (Building Design and Management) were delighted to see one of their latest projects come to life, as the new Aspire Lounge at Liverpool Airport was officially opened at the end of last year. This marks the seventh Swissport Aspire luxury airport lounge that they have completed.
The lounge was officially launched in October 2025 and is the latest addition to BDM’s Aspire Executive lounge portfolio which already includes Heathrow Terminal 3, Luton, Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast and Newcastle – with Manchester and Birmingham currently in progress.
BDM played a central role in delivering the airport lounges, leading the technical design from initial concept through to a fully buildable solution. This included detailed structural engineering input, comprehensive site surveying at all stages of the strip-out and construction process, and full management of regulatory compliance – from building control submissions and approvals to final certification. They also coordinated closely with airport technical teams and managers to ensure seamless integration of fire safety systems and environmental controls, maintaining compliance and continuity throughout construction and into operation.
Liverpool’s Aspire lounge marks completion of the airport’s latest multi-million-pound phase of passenger improvements, and was officially opened in a ribbon cutting ceremony by Liverpool City Council Leader, Councillor Liam Robinson.
These lounges offer a relaxing and comfortable space for travellers to unwind before their flight, regardless of their airline or class of travel. They provide amenities such as complimentary food, drinks, Wi-Fi, and a quieter environment than the main terminal.
The Liverpool lounge boasts its own dedicated entrance after the exit from the World Duty Free area, catering for twice as many guests with space for more than 200 passengers. An additional new feature is the introduction of a two-tiered offering, with guests now able to choose either the usual classic Aspire facilities or upgrade to Luxe by Aspire for the first time, which features private booths, communal workspace, premium snacks and drinks – and is for adults only.
David Cooke, Founder of BDM said:
“Our deep understanding of airport environments, their operational pressures, and the technical demands of high-footfall spaces has been key to delivering another exceptional Aspire lounge. We’re proud to have played a part in enhancing the passenger experience at Liverpool, and we look forward to bringing the same level of precision, innovation and collaboration to the upcoming lounges in Manchester and Birmingham.”
As the leading digital-twin experts in design, retail, and design management BDM who specialise in understanding and navigating the challenges of high-football environments look forward to revealing their upcoming two lounges in Manchester and Birmingham later this year.
