Diwali is a season for new beginnings and for gifts chosen with care, and Swiss watchmaker Atlantic Watches has put forward two very different timepieces for it this year: the Desert Racer VBA 442 Limited Edition for men and the Elegance Belle in rose gold for women.
Desert Racer VBA 442 Limited Edition
The Desert Racer takes its name and number from rally-raid rider Adrien Van Beveren, who races as number 442. Its 44 mm stainless steel case is finished in black DLC and frames a matte bronze chronograph dial, with sand-coloured indices and numerals that recall the desert landscapes of rally racing. Inside is a Ronda R8040B Swiss chronograph movement, protected by sapphire crystal, and the watch is water resistant to 100 metres.
It comes on a black calf leather racing strap, with a second desert-beige leather strap that swaps in with a quick-release system. Only 442 individually numbered pieces have been made, each delivered in a racing collector’s box with a limited-edition certificate.
Elegance Belle, Rose Gold PVD
For those who prefer classic lines, the Elegance Belle has a rectangular 25 x 30 mm stainless steel case with a rose gold PVD finish, a dial with Roman numerals and rose gold hands, and a matching rose gold PVD bracelet. It runs on a Ronda R1062 Swiss quartz movement, with sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50 metres, and is understated enough for everyday wear as well as festive evenings.
Between them, the two watches cover very different tastes: the bold, motorsport-inspired Desert Racer and the quietly elegant Elegance Belle, both built around Swiss movements. Both are available online through Just In Time.
