Diwali is a festival of light and colour, and Swiss watchmaker Aerowatch has chosen two timepieces for the season that play on both: the 1942 Harmonie Butterfly for women, whose butterflies change colour through the day, and the A 60959 AA10 for men, an automatic with a textured black dial.

For her: 1942 Harmonie Butterfly

Five small butterflies on the Harmonie Butterfly’s dial shift through a spectrum of colours as each hour passes, while a sixth stays still and gives the design a sense of balance. They sit on a luminous mother-of-pearl dial that brings out the changing palette.

The 35 mm case comes in polished stainless steel or rose gold PVD, under a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with an onion crown set with a coloured stone. It runs on a Swiss quartz movement with a date display at six o’clock, and is offered on a choice of leather straps or a metal bracelet.

For him: A 60959 AA10

The A 60959 AA10 pairs a polished stainless steel case, measuring 39 x 37.5 mm, with a black guilloché dial whose fine engraved pattern gives it depth. Green luminous Arabic numerals stand out against the dark dial and stay readable as evening turns to night. Inside, the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, with 26 jewels, drives the hours, minutes, seconds and a date at six o’clock. It is water resistant to 50 metres and comes on a black leather strap with a pin buckle.
