Visa: Most of the international booking happens 6 weeks prior to travel. If you are booking like two weeks prior to your date of travel, long-haul destinations like Europe, US, Australia or New Zealand are ruled out as the visa processing time taken for these destinations itself is over a month. Instead you can look for destinations that allow visa-free travel or visa on arrival for Indians. There are close to 50 countries that allow a visa on arrival to Indians. These include popular destinations like Thailand, Bhutan, Maldives, Cambodia, Nepal and Mauritius.
Flights: Look for places that have multiple flights by low-cost or no-frills airlines. If there are more flights to a destination, you are more likely to get cheaper tickets as a result of heavy travel competition.
Currency Rate: For Flights, Hotel, Travel and Sightseeing, the impact of currency fluctuations is minimal. However, for those who like to splurge excessively on shopping while on tour, it’s better to check if rupee is appreciating against the currency of the country you want to visit as it will help you to save on the expenses.
Last-minute deals: Most of the travel companies come up with flash sale nearly a month before the travel date. But it is difficult to get a good deal by two weeks remaining to the travel date as travel operators release their inventory of hotels and flights by that time.
