23rd September 2021: It’s that time of year again to get out the dirndls and lederhosen, as there’s a huge Oktoberfest setting up shop at Wavehouse and Saffron.
Oktoberfest at Saffron Brunch 2.0
For those 21+, Dubai’s favourite party brunch, Saffron 2.0, will be bringing Oktoberfest to Dubai on Friday 1stOctober. Complete with German favourites including jagersplatzle, roast chicken stew braised crispy pork knuckle and German braised duck, beverage stations will also get a Bavarian makeover with a vast selection of hops on tap.Alongside live DJ’s, brunch-goers can also enjoy round-the-clock entertainment, including Bavarian-inspired dancers, singers and magicians.

Oktoberfest at Wavehouse
Oktoberfest at Wavehouse is a gastronomical adventure with Bavarian-inspired dishes from AED 45 as well as pop-up draught stein stations on the venue’s extensive terrace. Live acoustic sets from a German Oompah band will add to the Bavarian atmosphere with a live DJ set every evening over the weekend. Every day is family-friendly, with bowling and gaming as well as the Surf’s Up Waverider available on a daily basis.
Highlights on the food menu include homemade Brezen pretzels, Reiberdatschi with apple sauce, pork wurst with bacon and apple sauerkraut and Bavarian pork knuckle with wholegrain mustard. Those with a sweet tooth can tuck into apple strudel, double German chocolate cake and black cherry and raspberry Kuchen.

There are some interesting facts that surround the much-loved Oktoberfest event that you probably don’t know about. Check them out…
- Despite the name Oktoberfest, the event actually takes place at the end of September
- Sticking to true Bavarian culture, Oktoberfest only sells beer from within the city limits of Munich throughout the festival
- Locals know the event as ‘wiesn’. It’s named after the Theresienwiese, which is the name of the land where it takes place
- Originally, Oktoberfest was celebrated to honour Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage in 1810
- Munich is the busiest time of the year during Oktoberfest, where people from all over the world head to the Bavarian capital to enjoy the event….6 million in total.
- During Oktoberfest, traditional visitors wear Bavarian hats (Tirolerhüte). The more tufts of goat hair on your hat, the wealthier you are considered to be.
