The Indian Music Museum Experience (IME) is excited to announce a series of special performances to celebrate World Music Day, known globally as Fête de la Musique, which is celebrated on June 21 each year. This weekend-long celebration will feature a diverse array of musical performances, all free of charge, inviting the public to immerse themselves in the universal language of music.

“The World Music Day events at IME are thoughtfully curated to offer music enthusiasts a spectrum of performances, spanning from classical to contemporary, showcasing the rich diversity of global musical traditions. Our aim is to foster an inclusive and lively musical atmosphere where individuals from all backgrounds can come together to appreciate the profound enrichment that music adds to our lives,” said Preema John, Director, Indian Music Experience Museum.

Key Highlights of the Celebration:

  1. Morning Raga: Hindustani Music Concert
    • Date & Time: Saturday, June 22, 6:30 AM
    • Location: Terrace Amphitheater
    • Artist: Shruti Bode, accompanied by Yogeesh Bhat on Tabla and Vignesh Bhagwat on Harmonium.
    • Details: Enjoy Hindustani vocal music by Bengaluru-based vocalist Shruti Bode, set against the serene backdrop of the early morning Bengaluru skies. Shruti, with over 24 years of national and international performance experience, will deliver a soulful rendition of classical and devotional music.

2.French Creole Jazz Performance by Akoda

    • Date & Time: Saturday, June 22, 7pm, Performance Theatre
    • Artist: AKODA, featuring Valérie Chane Tef (piano/vocals), Eric Perez (percussion), and Thomas Boude (bass).
    • Details: Join us for a vibrant Creole jazz concert by the Bordeaux-based trio AKODA, celebrating the rich Creole heritage and their infectious joy of life. This event is presented in partnership with Alliance Française Bangalore, the French Institute, and the Embassy of France.
  1. Morning Raga: Carnatic Flute Music Concert
    • Date & Time: Sunday, June 23, 6:30 AM
    • Location: Terrace Amphitheater
    • Artists: Heramb and Hemanth (Flute Brothers), accompanied by Anoor Vinod Shyam on Mridangam and A Chidananda on Morsing.
    • Details: Experience the mesmerizing blend of Carnatic flute music by the talented duo Heramb and Hemanth. Known for their innovative techniques and perfect pitching, the Flute Brothers will perform a serene concert in the tranquil surroundings of our terrace amphitheater.
  1. Jam Session & Concert with transtraditional rock band Gauley Bhai

o   Date & Time: Sunday, June 23

o   Details: Musicians of all levels are invited to participate in an experimental jam session with the trans-traditional rock band Gauley Bhai, followed by a live concert. Gauley Bhai, a band born from a jam room in 2017, brings together sounds from diverse cultural backgrounds, reflecting their experiences of migration and urban life.
