Interiors of Druma, a vegetarian restaurant in Jayanagar, Bengaluru

Druma, a new vegetarian restaurant in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, takes a contemporary approach to vegetarian food, with a menu that draws on Indian, South Indian, Pan Asian and global influences. The restaurant is built around the idea of “humble dining”: good produce, honest flavours and thoughtful cooking.

Spread across 2,100 sq ft, the 60-cover space draws on Kannada culture and South Indian architectural heritage, interpreted through an earthy, contemporary design.

What to order at Druma

The menu brings familiar ingredients into new formats. The Mushroom Cappuccino, Khari pairs a creamy mushroom soup with light milk foam and crisp Indian khari. The Samosa Mille Feuille Chaat layers samosa pastry, potato and pindi chole infused with black tea, while the Tandoori Soya Chaap is stuffed with dry fruits, cheese and herbs before being coated in spiced yoghurt and chargrilled.

Other dishes include Pesto Kunafa Tofu, which combines crisp kunafa with tofu, pesto, hummus and Cajun seasoning, and a Chettinad Paneer Quesadilla made with flaky Malabar parotta in place of a tortilla. There is also a Jackfruit BBQ Slider with slow-cooked jackfruit, Stuffed Paneer Palak, where paneer filled with dry fruits is served with palak poured at the table, and Alleppey Mango Curry, a lighter preparation of vegetables, mango, coconut and gentle spices.

Druma joins a growing list of new Bengaluru restaurants, including Janot, that are rethinking how the city eats.
