23rd November 2022:  The tourism boards of New York City and Washington, DC successfully held a joint trade event in Hyderabad on Tuesday, 22nd November 2022.

The two major cities on the east coast engaged with key trade partners to highlight various developments including hotels, attractions and culinary offerings

Mr. Andrew Edlefsen, Principal Commercial Officer, US Consulate, Hyderabad spoke at the event on importance of tourism. He emphasized on how the trade partners and their efforts for the United States are recognised and highly appreciated.

Destination DC introduced major developments in the district including the recent opening of the Silver Line metro connecting straight from the Dulles airport to Downtown DC. The opening of Phase 2 of The Wharf adding the new Pendry Hotel and 95,000 sq feet of retail space, new restaurants like Gordon Ramsay’s Fish and Chips.  Signature Washington, DC events are back in person like:

  • National Cherry Blossom festival in April and May
  • Celebration of international cultures through Passport DC in May

New York City is action packed with many events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on 24th November, the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony, the Union Square holiday market which will be open until the 24th December and the iconic New Year’s Eve Times Square Ball Drop. New York City is also chosen as the host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Both destinations, Washington, DC and New York city are strongly committed to the India Market and are well prepared for a rising number of Indian travellers
