For this you would need

  • 1 cup- chickpeas
  • 1 onion- chopped
  • 3-4 garlic pods
  • A bunch of coriander and parsley each (in case you don’t Have parsley, feel free to add only coriander)
  • 1-2 tsp cumin
  • 1⁄2 an inch of cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 cloves
  • Salt as per taste

Method

Soak the chickpeas for a good 7-8 hours. The traditional recipe uses raw chickpeas, which are ground along with other ingredients.

However, I personally do not enjoy the rawness and hence boil it partially that is Just pressure Cook the chickpeas till about 1-2 whistles and let them cool.

In a grinder, add the chickpeas and all other ingredients. While grinding let them be coarse. We don’t want a paste here as it will be difficult to bind them. Once done, refrigerate the mixture for sometime.

These can be given any shape and can be either air fried, fried or be done in an appe pan. I prefer mine in an appe pan.
