Female Struggles: Most Common Everyday Stressors for Women

In today’s society, women are often perceived as more stressed than men. The cause of this might stem from the fact that they are required to juggle several roles at once. While men are still widely seen as “providers”, women have to manage their careers, take care of kids, keep the household running and tend to everyone’s needs except their own. So, in order to eliminate stress and lead happy and healthy lives, first, we need to locate everyday stressors that often trigger women the most.

Family issues

Being a wife, girlfriend, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin or daughter can be very exhausting, especially if you struggle to keep up with society’s demands and the pressure of social media. The best way to shed some of the stress is to be a caregiver, but this time, take care of yourself first. At least sometimes, say no to obligations that give you more anxiety than happiness. Communication is the key to all relationships and it can really help with stress management. Individual or couple’s counseling can also come in handy to keep the relationships running smoothly.

Finance

Very few people in the world are completely satisfied with their financial status. Making ends meet can be quite hard, especially if you keep comparing yourself with friends, siblings or neighbors. Earning enough, paying off mortgages and debts, paying bills and saving for college or retirement can be very overwhelming and stressful. However, a good financial planner can help you with your financial plan and a thorough spending diary can keep track of expenses.

Health

Dealing with illness, trying to get in top shape and keeping your family healthy, strong and fit can take a great toll on your mental health. Watching yourself get weaker or watching your loved ones struggle is the most horrible feeling in the world. However, if you start dealing with health issues head-on, stay active, eat better and get regular checkups, you will spare yourself a lot of stress and pain in the future.

Emergencies and accidents

Our daily lives are full of these little bothers that pop up when we least expect them. While some things can’t be predicted, others can be completely averted with prevention. Let’s say your car is making weird noises. Don’t wait until you can’t start it or until you stop in the middle of the road! Instead, find a good mechanic to nip your problem in the bud. Don’t have time to visit a repair shop? Set an appointment with your mobile mechanic who will come to your house, check out your vehicle, fix the issue and even clean up after themselves.  You’ll be safely on the road in no time! Prevention is always the best cure and almost every crisis can be averted if you tackle it in advance!

Household chores

It might not feel like something too important, but keeping the household up and running is super demanding! Cleaning, cooking, organizing and even repairing can take away a huge chunk of “free” time every day. That’s why having a good chore system and plenty of help is the key. You can’t and don’t have to tackle everything yourself!

Negative body image

According to research, women are almost 10 times more likely to struggle with their body image than men. The inability to get the body you want and inability to love your natural body can provide women with plenty of unwanted stressed. Remember, you don’t have an obligation to look sexy, young and lean! Once you accept that some things just can’t be changed (aging, for instance) you’ll feel a lot less stressed.

It’s impossible to completely eliminate stress from your life, but there are ways to keep stressors at bay. Nourish yourself, seek help, take breaks and learn how to accept things that can’t be changed!
